MUZAFFARPUR: A 40-year-old property dealer was shot dead by unidentified criminals in Sahbazpur locality of the town under the Ahiapur police station area on Thursday.
The incident occurred around 9am when the victim, Krinchi Sahni, was returning home after meeting one of his friends at Zero Mile. Locals took Sahni to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital here, where he succumbed to his bullet injuries.
Agitated over the incident, locals vandalised some shops and blocked interjections of National Highway-57 and 77.
Vehicular movement remained paralysed on these NHs connecting Darbhanga and Sitamarhi, respectively, for more than six hours.
The situation was brought under control after City SP Niraj Kumar Singh and deputy SP (town) Ram Narain Paswan reached the spot with heavy reinforcement. The locals were demanding immediate arrest of the the killers, payment of compensation to the next of the kin of the deceased and government job to one of his family members.
The City SP said an FIR was registered at Ahiapur police station on the statement of the Sahni’s wife. “We are scanning the CCTV footage to identify the killers and arrest them. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained,” the SP added.
